If Bethesda shakes things up too much with their next engine, it'll both turn some authors off and it'll inevitably delay mods for that game - especially if we're talking about high-quality ones.

Existing mod authors are already well-versed in the Creation Engine (admittedly, some more than others). Probably the most important factor here is familiarity. While I'd love some kind of "partial override" flag somewhere for records to avoid conflicts wherever possible, that's just on my wish list for CE 2. With tools like 圎dit, we can visualize exactly what our plugins do to the game and fine-tune the changes they make. The plugin format as it is is, quite frankly, very nice to work with (compared to the alternatives). Mods and the players who create them have always been an important part of our games, going all the way back to Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls Construction. The CE abstracts away a lot of the complexity behind closed-source C++ and leaves us with a nice little interface that we call the Creation Kit to create things to run within this abstract environment. It's very restricting, don't get me wrong, but it sacrifices freedom for making creation significantly faster and easier.

Let us know in the comments. The Creation engine, as flawed as it may be (trust me with I say that the bugs that most users see don't even BEGIN to describe the engine's quirks, inconsistencies, and weird bugs that mod authors deal with on a daily basis), is an extremely easy-to-work-with open-world game engine. There’s no word on any possible PS4 pre-launch tests just yet. Using Creation Club is easy browse the selection in-game by category and use Credits to download the content. Content is fully curated and compatible with the main game and official add-ons. Instead, the developer has only said that it will come after the release of Fallout 4’s final piece of DLC, Far Harbor, on May 19. Bethesda is bringing the same support to consoles, starting with Xbox One this month, with PS4 following in June. The Creation Kit is an external editor made specifically for Fallout 4 and the Creation Engine. That in-game mod support isn’t staying PC exclusive for long however. Not only is it easier to make mods, but players can also now browse and download mods from a new tab on the Fallout 4 main menu.
